With the Atlanta Falcons having only five picks in the 2025 NFL Draft, they needed to make a couple of splash signings in the undrafted free agent period.
Luckily for Falcons fans, the team did that, signing former San Jose State wide receiver Nick Nash and former Kansas cornerback Cobee Bryant. Nash and Bryant could’ve been easily taken on Day 3 of the draft, but now will get a chance to win a spot on the Falcons’ 53-man roster this summer.
Bryant, who had a stellar collegiate career at Kansas, is already looking to prove the doubters wrong before he steps onto the field.
The former Jayhawk star said in a post on Twitter/X, “They can never take what God gave me, I got heart … believe in me I had it hard, nothing was never given to me don’t go against me.”
Bryant also thanked the Falcons fanbase and told them he will see them soon. Atlanta might have found a diamond in the rough in Bryant, who is clearly playing with a chip on his shoulder.
It was shocking to see the 6-foot cornerback not get drafted after what he did on the outside over his four-year career at Kansas. The former Jayhawk star racked up 128 combined tackles, 13 interceptions (two returned for defensive TDs), 11 tackles for loss, three forced fumbles (one returned for a defensive TD), and 1.5 sacks.
Last season, Bryant recorded 37 combined tackles, seven pass deflections, four tackles for loss, four interceptions, a forced fumble, and a half sack. The three-time All-Big 12 corner will likely not start in Atlanta, as they have A.J. Terrell and Mike Hughes on the outside.
However, if Bryant performs well in rookie minicamp, training camp, and preseason, he’ll find his way onto the 53-man roster behind those guys.
