Keeping up with former players and prospects is what Atlanta Braves fans have been reduced to this season, with the team itself providing little on-field entertainment.

Whether it is an injury-riddled rotation or a lineup that often forgets to show up, there are a myriad of reasons for frustration. With this in mind, former Atlanta infielder CJ Alexander will garner a level of interest as he continues to bounce around the league. The former Atlanta draft pick spent the 2018-2021 seasons in the Braves' minor league system with underwhelming results and has since struggled to hold down a job.

Former Braves Draft Pick CJ Alexander Lands with Dodgers

The good news for the former Brave is the fact that the Los Angeles Dodgers have placed a claim on Alexander, according to CBS Sports. The move comes three days after he was designated for assignment by the New York Yankees, and gives Alexander a chance for a fresh start, able to turn the page and compete for a bench role for the league's top contender.

Alexander was dealt the Kansas City Royals in exchange for a better draft selection once his time in Atlanta finished.

After spending time in the Kansas City minor league system, Alexander would finally make his debut with the franchise to underwhelming results. This would end with the two sides parting ways and the Athletics claiming the infielder off waivers. In limited Major League chances, he would go 3-of-17 and be designated for assignment before getting claimed by the New York Yankees on June 8. This added up to predictably underwhelming results and yet again led to the infielder being DFA'd.

Any reasonable fan or pundit will point to the Dodgers as the team to beat in the National League. This is based on incredibly aggressive spending that has offered immense depth on top of having three of the league's best hitters. As annoying as the franchise might be, there simply isn't any denying the dominance they have set themselves up for.

With this in mind, making the roster is going to be incredibly difficult for the infielder. Alexander is being brought in as injury insurance, leaving it up to the former Brave to find a way to fight his way onto the roster and turn around what is a spiraling career.
