MLB rosters are among the biggest in sports, opening the door to plenty of potential reunions. The Atlanta Braves are more than familiar with reuniting with old faces, having just brought outfielder Eddie Rosario back to the organization last month after he was outrighted by the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Unfortunately, Rosario's third Braves stint didn't yield the intended results, resulting in his being designated for assignment after only three appearances. He eventually elected for free agency, leaving time to tell how long it'd take to find his next opportunity.
As it turns out, not that long.
Brewers Sign Former Braves OF Eddie Rosario to Minor League Contract
On Wednesday evening, MLB Trade Rumors' Anthony Franco reported that Rosario has signed a minor-league contract with the Milwaukee Brewers. With all of the outfield injuries the Brewers are currently dealing with, the ex-Braves outfielder might have a legitimate chance at playing time despite his regressed play.
Brewers outfielders Blake Perkins (shin) and Garrett Mitchell (oblique) are both currently sidelined, leaving the club desperate enough to take a flyer on the former National League Championship Series MVP.
Rosario, 33, is an 11-year MLB veteran who's racked up 169 home runs, 583 RBIs, 226 walks, and a .261/.298/.449 slash line across 1,126 career games. Unfortunately, he's no longer the difference-making player he was during his Braves tenure, proven by his inability to stay on a roster. He's already played for the Braves and L.A. Dodgers this season, meaning the Brewers are the third team he's joined and it isn't even June yet.
To say Rosario's 2025 performance has been disappointing would be putting it lightly. The former World Series-winning OF failed to make the most of his eight at-bats between the Braves and Dodgers, slashing an abysmal .125/.125/.125 while only registering one hit with two strikeouts.
If he can do the unthinkable by turning back the clock, Rosario will have a chance to face his former team. The Braves and Brewers will begin a three-game series at Truist Park on Monday, June 9, giving the struggling veteran just over three weeks to prove he still belongs in the Majors.
In the meantime, Atlanta is 7-4 in its last 11 games heading into Thursday's finale against the Washington Nationals. The recent success is a big reason why the Braves currently hold the sixth-best 2025 World Series odds (+1500) on FanDuel Sportsbook, indicating that they'll be just fine in the post-Rosario era.
