The NFL offseason has hit a dry patch as players rest up before training camp starts next month. The Atlanta Falcons went 8-9 last season in their first season under Raheem Morris. They are looking to change the course in 2025 with Michael Penix Jr. under center.

With Penix Jr. the starter and Kirk Cousins as the backup, these spots are locked down for the upcoming season.

While that's happening in Atlanta, a former Falcons QB is still a free agent, and it doesn't look like it'll change. Desmond Ridder has been on the free agent market since March and it doesn't appear that he'll be finding a new home soon.

Desmond Ridder is Still Sitting on the Free Agent Market

Back in May, he was slated to work out with the Denver Broncos, but it didn't happen since Ridder wasn't able to show up to their rookie minicamp due to a scheduling conflict. Since then, he hasn't landed an opportunity like that and sits on the open market.

Ridder was drafted in the third round of the 2022 NFL draft by Atlanta. He was given a chance to be the starter with the Falcons, but didn't take advantage of those outings. In 19 games (17 starts) in Atlanta, he had an 8-9 record, completing 64% of his throws for 3,544 passing yards, 14 passing touchdowns, and 12 interceptions.

He never looked comfortable as a passer and was eventually traded to the Arizona Cardinals. He couldn't even make the 53-man roster, as he was released on roster cutdown day in August 2024. The Cincinnati product then joined the Las Vegas Raiders, starting in one game for them.

Things didn't last there either, and he's been on the open market since. Considering he's been with three different organizations and none of those teams kept him around is telling. It's also interesting that Ridder didn't make the workout with the Broncos even though he was looking for a job. It makes it seem that he isn't fully locked in.

That probably didn't go over well in league circles, and the likelihood that Ridder gets signed appears to be slim.
