The 2025 NBA offseason is in full effect, and it hasn't taken long for things to shake up around the league. The Atlanta Hawks' roster already looks quite different in only a few weeks, as Kristaps Porzingis, Luke Kennard, and Nickeil Alexander-Walker are on their way to A-Town, whereas the likes of Clint Capela, Caris LeVert, and others have already moved on elsewhere.
After all those changes, Hawks fans are excited to see what comes next. Although general manager Onsi Saleh's next move is unknown, the Atlanta fan base is buzzing again after star point guard Trae Young's latest social media post.
Hawks' Trae Young Makes Cryptic Post During NBA Free Agency
On Wednesday morning, Young took to X to make a mysterious post that's left Hawks fans buzzing. The four-time All-Star guard's post featured a lone hourglass emoji, leaving Houston fans to wonder if he's hinting at another potential offseason move on the horizon.

It'll be interesting to see what Young's cryptic post amounts to, if anything. Athletes from all sports are known to make mysterious social media posts that leave fans guessing, and Young's effort could be the latest example on that lengthy list.
At the same time, Young and/or the Hawks could be brewing something big. The only question is, what could that be?
Saleh already proved that he isn't afraid to make a splash with the Porzingis trade, so perhaps another unexpected blockbuster is looming. There are also plenty of free agents still available, meaning Young's post could hint at a new signing, whether it's someone he's familiar with or a fresh face.
Another possibility is Young putting pen to paper himself. The 2024-25 NBA assist leader is eligible to sign a contract extension and will be looking for a big pay raise over the $45.9 million cap hit he'll be carrying next season. While he does have a $48.9 million player option for the 2026-27 campaign, it's possible he's ready to sign on the dotted line soon.
According to NBC Sports' Kurt Helin, the maximum extension Atlanta can offer Young is worth $228.6 million spread across four years ($57.1 million average annual value).
Hawks fans certainly wouldn't complain about locking Young down for the right price. The four-time NBA All-Star has averaged 25.3 points, 9.8 assists, 3.5 rebounds, 1.0 steals, and .433/.352/.873 shooting splits in 483 starts since debuting in 2018, which includes a trio of postseason runs.
Extending Young would not only allow the Hawks to prove to their fans that they want to keep the beloved star in down, but that they're also serious about competing for an NBA Championship through 2030.
