Jack Strand is making a case for being the Falcons' QB2

After apoor showing in the preseason openeragainst the Denver Broncos, the Atlanta Falcons came back and redeemed themselves the following week, defeating the Indianapolis Colts in convincing fashion. All three phases of the game showed out, but it was the offense that showed out throughout the day.

That's thanks to Jack Strand.

The undrafted rookie had himself a day, as he finished completing 12 of his 17 passes for 212 yards and one touchdown. He also contributed on the ground and ran in for a 16-yard touchdown. Whatever Strand wanted against the Colts, he was able to get it, and the Falcons have to be pleased with what he was able to accomplish.

Some decisions will have to be made soon, as the Falcons currently have four quarterbacks on the roster. There's no telling if they'll keep three or two QBs on the roster, but in any event, Strand needs to be one of the last men standing. Throughout training camp, there have been good things said about Strand and how he's performing, and the Falcons can let development go to waste or to another team.

The Falcons' quarterback room is still up in the air

With there still being no clear favorite for the starting QB position, Michael Penix Jr.being cleared for 11-on-11scouldn't have come at a better time. There's a feeling that he could possibly win the job in the next two weeks, and after Tua Tagovailoa's performance against the Broncos and his joint practice with the Colts, it wouldn't be a surprise if his stock was going down. On the other hand, Strand is trending upward and can keep climbing after the final preseason game.

If Penix wins the job, many people would assume that Tagovailoa would be the starter, but it might not be that simple. The preseason finale could be the best way to prove where all three quarterbacks will stand on the roster during the season, and as of now, it's hard to tell how things could turn out.

Jack Strand has what the Falcons are looking for

What we do know is that Strand can put zip on the ball, and if he has to take off and run, he can do that as well. Of course, every quarterback has their weaknesses, but if his strengths outweigh everything else, there should be no question that he deserves a spot on the roster.

If he comes out and plays well in the final game, the Falcons should really sit down and consider what to do with their quarterback room, because as of now, Strand is going to lead them to make a tough decision.
