While the Atlanta Braves have gotten off to a strong start in 2026, one obvious area of concern has emerged.

Ahead of the regular season, getting underway, the Braves lost Jurickson Profar for a second straight year due to the outfielder's choice to ignore the league's banned substance list. This landed Profar a suspension that freed up his salary for the entirety of the season and left the Braves scrambling to find an answer in left field.

Atlanta is now 15 games into the regular season, and it is safe to say that the position is emerging as a clear weakness. As of Sunday morning, free-agent addition Mike Yastrzemski is hitting .174 and often appears overmatched at the plate, while Eli White has offered a pair of hits in 13 plate appearances. The duo is offering very little offensively and appears to be a clear weakness for the franchise moving forward.

One potential solution to the problem is Ha-Seong Kim returning to the lineup and allowing the Braves to put Mauricio Dubon in the outfield. However, it is fair to wonder if Dubon's hot start will persist and allow the Braves to find such an easy solution. Free agency has no obvious remaining targets, with the only remaining names not offering any more upside than Atlanta's current options.

All this points to the fact that there could be one clear target for the Braves as we head into the summer.

Jurickson Profar's Selfishness Has Left Braves with an LF Issue

It makes sense for the Braves to begin to look ahead and consider the possibilities of adding to the outfield in the trade market. Profar being pulled for the lineup while Yastrzemski offers so little value has left the position as a frustrating weakness that is one of the very few holes in what has been a productive lineup.

Dubon isn't a suitable option based on Atlanta's need to keep the utility player at short until Kim's return. This reduces the Braves to hoping that either White or Yastrzemski is able to catch fire and offer a bit more reliability until teams are willing to sell potential answers.

For the Braves, this doesn't come as a surprise and is one of the very few complaints that fans could offer. Overall, the team is exceeding expectations when you factor in the injury issues that are still holding the current roster back from its full potential.

Fixing the LF situation is more about pushing the Braves to their full potential, as the roster appears to be one capable of making noise deep into the postseason. Even this early in the year, every win matters, and the Braves must begin searching for a more reliable left field option if the production doesn't quickly improve in the first month of the 2026 season.

Hopefully, Profar's 162-game mistake won't come back to bite Atlanta down the line, and that manager Walt Weiss can solve the left field conundrum sooner rather than later.
