The Atlanta Dream went into the All-Star break winning the last four of their five games, and it sets them up perfectly to come back rolling. Through those five games, they were able to get Brionna Jones back on the floor, who had missed most of the first half of the season rehabbing from a meniscus injury she suffered in the offseason.
Throughout the season, it was obvious at times that they missed what Jones could bring to the court on both sides of the ball, but for the most part, they were able to weather the storm. Angel Reese, Naz Hillmon and Madina Okot held down the frontcourt while she was gone, and they did a good job of producing on a consistent basis.
Jones is on a minutes restriction for now, but in just two games, she's shown that she can make an even bigger difference for the Dream for the rest of the season. Adding her to what the Dream frontcourt has already been doing, and this could make for a scary unit to face on a nightly basis.
Looking around the league, it's hard to find another team that has a better frontcourt than them at the moment.
The Dream have a dangerous frontcourt that could be hard to stop
Everybody knows what Reese does when she's on the court, and she continues to rack up double-doubles with ease. On defense, she makes it hard for the opposing team while making them pay on the other side of the ball. There aren't many players in the league who are doing what she does at her level, and she's helped the Dream a lot this season.
Hillmon started the season slowly as she dealt with a shoulder injury, but over the past few games, she's found a rhythm offensively. She had a breakout season last year under Karl Smesko, and if she can get back to that form in the second half of this season, it would be a major plus.
Okot just picked up a basketball six years ago, but the way she's been playing in her rookie season, you'd think she'd been playing forever. When Reese or Hillmon needs a relief on the bench, Okot comes in and makes a difference in the paint, and she can even step out on the perimeter and knock down 3-pointers.
Adding Jones to a group like this will only make them better, and it arguably makes them a top frontcourt unit in the league.
