Atlanta Hawks vs. Detroit Pistons preview: MLK Day Hoops

facebooktwitterreddit

The Atlanta Hawks come into MLK Day riding a 12-game winning streak, and will host the 16-25 Detroit Pistons.

The Pistons are coming off of a 107-89 beat down of the Philadelphia 76ers, where Kyle Singler went off and scored 20 points to lead the team. Anthony Tolliver and Jodie Meeks proved to be extremely helpful off the bench, scoring 16 and 15 points respectively.

The Hawks have taken down the Pistons in both of the teams’ prior matchups, so Detroit should be heading into this one with some motivation–as should most teams.

The one thing Detroit has going for them is that they’re a pretty solid rebounding team. The Pistons average 45.5 rebounds per game–good for fifth in the league–while the Hawks average “just” 41 per game. That number hardly matters much with the way Atlanta has been dominating every other category of the game though, and their 33-8 record so far on the season backs that up.

Atlanta is coming off of a 107-99 win over Derrick Rose and the Chicago Bulls, and they’ve been cruising for a solid two months now. It should be another fun one.
