2013: CB Desmond Trufant, Washington (22nd Overall)
This was another smart move by Dimitroff to move up slightly from 30 to 22 to draft CB Desmond Trufant out of Washington. Trufant comes from a deep football family as both of his older brothers played in the NFL after starring at rival Wazoo. The Tacoma, WA native has excellent cover skills, a cerebral approach to playing cornerback, and aspires to grow as a locker room leader for the Falcons defense this season.

In two years with the Falcons, Trufant has made himself a top ten cornerback despite being part of the NFL’s worst pass defense. He embraces the challenge of covering each opponent’s best receiving threat. Having to go against Jones and White in practice daily has only improved the young Washingtonian’s game. Anticipate Desmond Trufant to make his first Pro Bowl this upcoming season.
