Falcons Hold 1st Voluntary Minicamp Under Dan Quinn

Today was a highly anticipated day for new Falcons Head Coach Dan Quinn and his staff.  Atlanta held is first voluntary minicamp Tuesday afternoon and everybody seemed eager to get the 2015 season started on the right track.

More from Atlanta Falcons

This wasn’t a deeply philosophical practice as Coach Quinn wanted to prioritize how quickly each guy could play before undergoing serious installation at a later date.  Quinn stated, “I wanted to see us play fast…the emphasis of the day. (0:21-0:31).

QB Matt Ryan, CB Desmond Trufant, and WR Julio Jones all met with the media after practice.  Trufant spoke on his wish for this year’s team to playing together.  Jones harped on intrasquad competition and offseason conditioning .  Ryan came away with positive vibes from the practice’s energy.

Honestly, there’s not much more to extract from an initial pre-draft minicamp.  All I can really add is that everyone seemed upbeat and ready to turn the page from last season. The team’s participation in the voluntary practice looked promising as well.  It seems like the team wants to thrive in Dan Quinn’s rookie season.  In a weak NFC South, the Atlanta Falcons can certainly get back into the playoffs this winter.  Let’s hope that Quinn has a better understanding of what his roster’s capabilities are before Thursday’s NFL Draft.

The NFL Draft begins Thursday night at 8 PM ET live from Chicago.
