2015 Atlanta Falcons State of the Franchise Address Reactions
By John Buhler
The Atlanta Falcons organization had their annual State of the Franchise address this evening. Just like anything the Falcons organization puts together, it was first class. Owner Arthur Blank was bursting with excitement about all that is in store for his NFL franchise, his new MLS franchise, his new state of the art stadium, and the improvements being down to Atlanta’s Westside communities. It was a very positive evening for the Falcons and the City of Atlanta.

I was just blown away with Mr. Blank’s enthusiasm this evening. It’s as though the hiring of Dan Quinn has given Arthur a boost of invigoration to fully enjoy all the wonderful things he is responsible for in this great Southeastern metropolis. The New Atlanta Stadium is becoming more and more tangible by the day. His MLS franchise is gaining new followers every day closer we get to that first match. The Falcons seem to have embraced a new cultural identity of playing a fast and physical brand of football. And perhaps Arthur is most proud of the terrific work his family’s foundation is doing to revitalize the long-forgotten Westside community. Mr. Blank is continuing to make great strides in the city we all love.
HC Dan Quinn and GM Thomas Dimitroff are so on the same page with each other that it’s almost uncanny. I really feel that their partnership is bringing out the very best in both men. Dimitroff assured the season ticket holders that rookie passer rusher Vic Beasley will sign his rookie deal here shortly. He also exuded great confidence on getting Julio Jones a new Falcons deal to keep our elite WR in Atlanta for a very long time. Honestly having Julio at the Address bodes well to the promise of getting him re-signed. Coach Quinn stated that his Atlanta Falcons team will treat every Sunday like its Championship Sunday. That got the entire auditorium fired up. Long gone are the days of winning 3 of 4 the Smitty Way.
For the first time in a State of the Franchise address, team players were also part of the event. CB Desmond Trufant, K Matt Bryant, RB Devonta Freeman, LT Jake Matthews and WR Julio Jones all answered WSB’s Zach Klein’s questions as a part of a panel. There weren’t any real surprises in the players’ answers. Trufant can’t wait to play the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football. Matt Bryant can’t wait to beat the New Orleans Saints. And Freeman, Matthews, and Jones fear no one, except maybe Coach Quinn in a cage fight.
If you were looking for groundbreaking revelations about the Atlanta Falcons, you might have come away disappointed with this address, though overhead walkways are officially part of the new stadium’s plan to positively affect traffic flow. But the vibes were all positive within the organization and all parties involved cannot wait for Falcons Football in 2015. Rise Up, ATL!
