Dan Quinn Wraps Up Minicamp With Media
By John Buhler
Atlanta Falcons HC Dan Quinn met with the media again after today’s third and final minicamp practice. Quinn believes that his team is “just getting started“, as he feels that Minicamp and OTA’s are both part of the offseason program and that the season really begins in training camp later this summer.

Backup QB TJ Yates ran with the first team offense today. Though Yates has a good understanding of OC Kyle Shanahan’s offense from their time together with the Houston Texans, Quinn liked his performance today. Quinn said that “you could feel the intensity, the tempo, the urgency in the huddle. I sensed that. I felt it.”

Dan Quinn believes that Vic Beasley and the rest of the rookie class just need to get more accustomed to NFL football conditioning. More reps should improve that as well as getting each rookie to play at his absolute fastest, The Dan Quinn Way. I liked how Coach Q referred to the rookies collectively as opposed to singling out Beasley.
Quinn believes that all players regardless of experience can continue to improve. He stated, “collectively, we’re aiming everything in improvement.” That’s a great sign as Coach Q sees his team as a group of individuals striving to get better every practice.
When asked about the if the team should look at signing veteran offensive lineman Evan Mathis who was just released by the Philadelphia Eagles, Dan Quinn didn’t want to get into specifics with about a single player. Quinn said, “we’re always going to keep our eye out for guys who have the ability to help fit in to what we’re doing.”

And we might have a new nickname for this Era of Atlanta Falcons Football. We might eventually be known as the Run and Hit Falcons. Dan Quinn wore a red and black hat with that phrase on it. Quinn said, “We’re going to out hit everybody we’re going to play.” That sounds so much better than discussing how the team is going to disguise blitz packages that ultimately never worked in the latter part of the Mike Smith Era.
It’s a culture change in Flowery Branch, guys. The Atlanta Falcons want to become the most physical team in 2015. One thing is certain: they are definitely not going to come across as ‘soft’ this upcoming season. That ‘grit’ and that edge should give our team a few more victories this season as they won’t fade in the fourth quarter and crunch time. Improving from 6 wins to 9-10 wins should get the Falcons back in the playoffs in 2015.
