player. 44. . CB. Washington. Desmond Trufant. 1

Desmond Trufant is the best defensive player on the 2015 Atlanta Falcons, hands down.  Trufant looks to become a top-tier shutdown corner in the NFL with the likes of Seattle’s Richard Sherman, New York Jets’ Darrelle Revis, Arizona’s Patrick Peterson, and Cleveland’s Joe Haden.  In Year Three with the Atlanta Falcons, I don’t see Trufant being all that far away from joining that short list.

Expect for Coach Quinn and Coach Morris to lean on Desmond Trufant this season as the young Atlanta Falcons’ secondary takes that giant leap towards becoming a feared unit.  While William Moore is the seasoned veteran and vocal leader of the unit, Tru more than carries his own weight in this DB corps.

I will be anxious to see just how Dan Quinn plans to feature Desmond Trufant in pass defense this season.  The team should especially benefit from playing a fast and physical brand of football, especially in the defensive backfield.

Along with QB Matt Ryan and WR Julio Jones, I see Desmond Trufant as one of the team’s three best players on its roster this season.  Having to go against Jones and Roddy White every day in practice has already transformed this former first round pick out of Washington into a legitimate starting cornerback on any roster.  I’m expecting big things from Desmond Trufant leading the Atlanta Falcons on defense this year.  Rise Up, ATL!
