SEC Media Days Edition: Around The Perimeter, Eps. 2.
By John Buhler
Good Morning, Atlanta! This is the second episode of Around The Perimeter here at ATL All Day.
In the second episode of Around the Perimeter, I talk to Jeff Ostenson in our initial segment about this past week’s events at SEC Media Days being held in Hoover, Alabama. We analyze the hierarchy in the SEC’s East and West Divisions to see who could play in the Conference Championship at the Georgia Dome in December. We also address the UGA senior speakers at SEC Media Days commanding leadership in what has been a culture change in Athens.

Jeff and I discuss all things Georgia Bulldogs including the starting quarterback competition, Brian Schottenheimer’s new offensive system, the bountiful linebacker corps, and if Georgia can have a strong enough of a season to get to the 2nd Annual College Football Playoff and RB Nick Chubb the Heisman Trophy. We then delve a bit into the national collegiate football landscape to see which teams and players might have magical years, too.
In part two of this week’s episode of Around The Perimeter, Michael Milich joins Assistant Editor Jonathan Savitske and I to talk about Atlanta Hawks’ Summer League and some Atlanta Falcons football. Michael does an in-depth analysis of who could potentially earn that 15th roster spot on the Atlanta Hawks. We admire Kenny Atkinson’s job on implementation a team-first system in the Las Vegas Summer League. Collectively, we all address our concerns over Atlanta’s deficiencies rebounding the basketball and have the Hawks improved enough in the front court to contend again this year in with the Eastern Conference.

Michael, Jon and I inspect the Atlanta Falcons’ offensive line concerns as well where Atlanta stands in the NFC South with a brief forecast of all four division teams. Are the Atlanta Falcons going to make the Playoffs this year? And what lies in store for Carolina, New Orleans and Tampa Bay in 2015. We then attempt to predict Super Bowl matchups weeks before training camp begins.
In the last segment, Jon and I discuss the Braves brutal upcoming schedule and what lies ahead for this team as the trade deadline approaches. We also discuss Fredi Gonzalez’s contract extension and Freddie Freeman’s lingering right wrist injury.
