Atlanta Falcons Training Camp: Around The Perimeter, Eps. 4.

Good Morning, Atlanta!  You are listening to Around The Perimeter here at ATL All Day.  We have a ton of great content on our 4th episode.

In Part One of Episode 4, I welcome Ian Poole to add some perspective on how the NFC South is fairing in the first part of training camp.  Ian and I discuss the Atlanta Falcons, his favorite NFL team the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and everybody’s favorites the Carolina Panthers and the New Orleans Saints.

We then take a look at how the Southeast Division just might stand as the toughest division in the NBA’s Eastern Conference next year, as the Atlanta Hawks look to repeat as champs with Ian’s Charlotte Hornets certainly in the playoff mix.  Ian gives insight of what PF/C Frank Kaminsky will bring to the table as a rookie and what Charlotte needs to do get back into the postseason.

Ian and I try to make sense of the three-team trade between the Atlanta Braves, the Los Angeles Dodgers, and the Miami Marlins.  We try to stay positive about the rest of the season as well as look into some intriguing young players on the rise for the Braves.

And of course, two former college roommates can’t help themselves and have to talk some Georgia Bulldogs Football.  Neither of us can wait for the Dawgs to tee it up Between the Hedges.  We both really love the offensive line and think it’s in the same class as the RB and LB groups there in Athens.  Just so much getting fired up about the Dawgs!

In Part Two of Episode 4, Jon and I are once again joined by Michael Milich, this time to discuss the Atlanta Braves’ trade with the Dodgers and Marlins.  Michael offers great insight on who the Braves got and who now plays for the Dodgers.  We all look at who did well for themselves at the Trade Deadline and who can contend for the MLB Playoffs this season.

Jon and I give our initial reactions to the Amway Coaches Poll that has both the Georgia Bulldogs and the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in the Top 25.  I like where my Dawgs are at but Jon thinks his Jackets were better than their current ranking.  But we can agree the both of our teams draw very tough schedules in 2015 chock full of ranked opponents and eye a big showdown in Clean, Old-Fashioned Hate.

And finally, we talk about the excitement surrounding Atlanta Falcons Training Camp as it is underway at Flowery Branch.  Jon and I discuss Kyle Shanahan’s zone blocking scheme, the running back situation, and the uncertainty surrounding the offensive line in general.

We do like Matt Ryan’s chances to thrive in Shanahan’s more balanced offensive attack.  I then elaborate on the impending Julio Jones contract extension, how much money he could make, and how smart it was to pay Matt Ryan when Atlanta Falcons GM Thomas Dimitroff did.
