Atlanta Falcons: Top 5 Rivalries Entering 2015
By John Buhler
Was there ever any doubt? The Atlanta Falcons and the New Orleans Saints absolutely hate each other. From being perennial doormats in the old NFC West to being contenders in the new NFC South, Atlanta and New Orleans have one of the deepest and most hostile rivalries in the entire National Football League.
Every year when the NFL schedule comes out, I immediately look to see which two weeks do the Atlanta Falcons play the New Orleans Saints and I promptly circle the pair. Getting swept by the New Orleans Saints in the regular season is arguably the worst feeling an Atlanta Falcons fan can experience.

I would find solace in a season where the Falcons went 1-15 so long as that one win was against the New Orleans Saints. The rivalry has intensified in the last 15 years or so as neither team is all that far away from a playoff berth. This series is an evenly matched one with Atlanta holding a slight edge in close to 50 seasons worth of games.
You know your rivalry is strong when a fan of a team in another part of the country instantly knows who you view as your arch rival. Falcons-Saints has forced its way into a Top 8 rivalry in the entire NFL and at times it challenges Giants-Eagles, Packers-Bears, or Ravens-Steelers. The feeling is mutual between fan bases, we straight don’t like each other.
To me, as a Falcons fan there is nothing better than beating the Saints in New Orleans and nothing worse than getting owned by them at the Georgia Dome. I could safely say that Who Dat Nation would feel the same way about the Atlanta Falcons. I cannot wait for football season to get there. Rise Up, Atlanta!
