By John Buhler
The Atlanta Falcons overcome a 20-10 deficit to beat the New York Giants in the Meadowlands 24-20 this afternoon at MetLife Stadium. Atlanta moves to 2-0 under first year Head Coach Dan Quinn.
Matt Ryan orchestrated another fantastic 4th Quarter game-winning drive for the Atlanta Falcons, as the Dirty Birds come back to knock off the New York Giants 24-20 Sunday afternoon.

I loved the fight in the Atlanta Falcons today. Atlanta was looking at a 10-point deficit with the New York Giants looking for more in the red zone late in the 3rd Quarter. Kroy Biermann changed the game with his forced fumble sack of New York QB Eli Manning. Atlanta would then take that turnover and turn it into 7 points their next offensive possession.

Previous Atlanta Falcons’ teams would have let up in that situation, in a place that had been a House of Horrors for the Dirty Birds in the Meadowlands. Matt Ryan had a great day at quarterback, playing his best football when the game was on the line. Matty Ice completed 30 of 46 passes for 363 yards and a touchdown pass to WR Leonard Hankerson.
Though he didn’t have a TD reception in this game, WR Julio Jones was the difference again for the Atlanta Falcons on offense. Jones had 13 receptions for 135 yards. He nearly had a touchdown reception to give the Falcons the lead, but was down at the one-yard line. Hankerson looked impressive with 6 catches for 77 yards and a touchdown.

This is a game that Atlanta was lucky to have won, as New York should have put it out of reach late in the fourth quarter. The secondary had a difficult time containing WR Odell Beckham, Jr., who had 7 catches for 146 yards and a touchdown. He’s becoming a Top 5 wideout this season. The Giants are fortunate to have receiver of Beckham’s caliber.
Atlanta won this game with strong mental composure in the 4th Quarter. The Giants never recovered from that Eli Manning fumble in the red zone, with several miscues when the game was on the line. All is not well with the New York Football Giants, who have now let two winnable games slip away in the first two weeks of the season. If HC Tom Coughlin wasn’t on the hot seat already, he certainly is now.
Dan Quinn moves to 2-0 in his first two games as the Head Coach of the Atlanta Falcons. Atlanta will have to travel to Arlington, Texas to play the Dallas Cowboys in AT&T Stadium next Sunday. With the Dirty Birds winning in a ball game in a stadium they’ve usually struggled in, expect the Atlanta Falcons to carry their momentum into Dallas for their Week 3 date with the Cowboys. Rise Up!
