Atlanta Falcons Face Giants in the Meadowlands
By John Buhler
The Atlanta Falcons will travel to the Meadowlands to face the New York Football Giants at MetLife Stadium at 1PM ET this afternoon in their Week 2 matchup.
Your Atlanta Falcons are 1-0 entering their Week 2 matchup versus the New York Giants. Atlanta had just enough on defense to hold on to a 26-24 lead in their Week 1 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football.

New York lost a tough one at AT&T Stadium versus the Dallas Cowboys by one point, 27-26 in Jerry World. The Giants will look rebound after the Divisional Loss to the Cowboys against a team they’ve essentially owned at home the last decade.

Atlanta has two painful losses in recent years in East Rutherford. The Atlanta Falcons blew a 4th Quarter lead to lose at MetLife last year, 30-20. Back in 2011, the Falcons only mustered two points in their NFC Wild Card Game with the New York Giants. New York would go on to win the Super Bowl that season.
New York is a 2.5 point home favorite over the Atlanta Falcons. If you remember, Atlanta was a 1 point underdog at home on Monday Night Football. So Atlanta has already covered the spread once this year and aspire to do it again, but this time in the road.
This game features two strong quarterbacks in 3x Pro Bowler Matt Ryan for the Atlanta Falcons and 2x Super Bowl Champion Eli Manning for the New York Giants. Both QBs have great weapons at wide receiver and neither of their teams have fared well in the last two seasons, missing the playoffs each year.
The Atlanta Falcons offense will have to prepare for two great cornerbacks in the G-Men’s secondary with Prince Amukamara and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie. Expect OC Kyle Shanahan to focus his offensive game plan around attacking the Giants in the short-to-medium passing game with a lot of crossing patterns and screen passes.

For all that to work for Atlanta offensively, it will have to again run the ball with authority against New York’s front seven. Atlanta was able to accumulate nearly 100 yards on the ground versus the Eagles, due in large part to Tevin Coleman‘s strong NFL debut (20 carries for 80 yards).
On the defensive side of the football, the Atlanta Falcons will have to prepare for strong wide receivers like Odell Beckham Jr. and Reuben Randle. It seems likely that WR Victor Cruz will miss Week 2 with his injury. Atlanta has looked impressive in the front seven so far, but will the pass rush be strong enough to force Eli Manning into making tough throws this afternoon?
I see the Atlanta Falcons play with poise and win this game by a touchdown, bucking the trend of poor performances in the Meadowlands. Atlanta Falcons 24, New York Giants 17.
