Atlanta is Now a 4th Quarter Team
Towards the end of the Mike Smith Era, we saw way too often the Atlanta Falcons take their foot off the gas in the second half. Atlanta outscored New York 14-0 in the 4th quarter to upset the G-Men on the road. Matt Ryan connected on a TD strike with WR Leonard Hankerson and then unleashed a rocket to WR Julio Jones to set up a Devonta Freeman touchdown run.
These late game heroics aren’t just reserved for the Matty Ice and the offense. The defense and special teams again played a part in the Atlanta Falcons overcoming 4th quarter deficits in the season’s first two weeks.
Being a 4th Quarter team means that you are never out of a game. Dan Quinn’s staff has instilled the necessary poise in their Atlanta Falcons to play their best football when the game is on the line. To treat every Sunday like it’s Championship Sunday, you have to win the 4th Quarter and the Atlanta Falcons are beginning to figure out how to win games late in 2015.
