The Atlanta Falcons score 25 unanswered to points to hogtie the Dallas Cowboys in Jerry World Sunday afternoon, 39-28. This Falcons team does not quit.

This was a game of two halves. The Atlanta Falcons could not stop the rushing attack of the Dallas Cowboys in the first half. RB Joseph Randle had three touchdowns and Darren McFadden had a score of his own. Dallas was in control of the game, up 28-17 at halftime.

Whatever Atlanta Falcons HC Dan Quinn said to the Dirty Birds at halftime worked, because the Dirty Birds came out and completely dominated the Dallas Cowboys in the second half. Atlanta outscored Dallas 22-0 in the final two quarters.

More from Atlanta Falcons

Devonta Freeman was the star of the game for the Atlanta Falcons. In his first career start, Freeman did not disappoint. He was the workhorse in Tevin Coleman‘s absence, rushing for 141 yards and 3 touchdowns on 30 carries. Devonta also had another 52 yards through the air on 5 receptions.

Matt Ryan settled in nicely in the second half. He was 24 of 36 passing for 285 yards and 2 touchdowns. His favorite target was obviously the great wideout Julio Jones, who corralled in 12 receptions for 164 yards and 2 touchdowns. Jones is simply magnificent, even in a game where he was in obvious pain, grinding it out through a hamstring issue.

On the defensive side of the ball, I thought that Justin Durant played an inspired game at outside linebacker. Durant had 8 tackles against his former team, going the distance with Dallas’ Sean Lee on the other side.

  • The Atlanta Falcons had two sacks in this game on Brandon Weeden. Vic Beasley was still able to drag down Weeden from behind, even while LT Tyron Smith obviously held him from the Dallas QB. Adrian Clayborn dove on top of Weeden late in the game, when the quarterback thought he good get away with a baseball slide in that situation. William Moore made a great play on a terrible throw from Weeden on his interception that resulted in Atlanta Falcons points on a shortened drive.

This was a game of will. I wasn’t sure if the Atlanta Falcons were going to contain the daunting offensive line of the Cowboys in this one. Like I said all week, this game was going to come down to which front seven wanted it more. When Sean Lee had to miss a few series with a busted lip, Atlanta took over the momentum of the football game.

Atlanta moves to 3-0 on the year with three consecutive come-from-behind victories. This team will not quit on HC Dan Quinn. The Atlanta Falcons have to feel good about themselves heading into a Week 4 home game against the Houston Texans. One of the best games the Dirty Birds have played in a long time. Rise Up!
