Through the first three weeks of 2015, LT Jake Matthews has elevated his play to the 4th best blind side protector in the NFL, according to Pro Football Focus. Miraculously, the Atlanta Falcons are the number one offensive line in terms of pass protection through the first three weeks. Matthews is a major reason for this.

Jake has allowed only three pressures in three weeks protecting Matt Ryan’s blind side. He’s also helped anchor the number three run blocking team in the NFL. The play from the Atlanta Falcons’ tackles has been nothing less than sensational thus far.
Matthews’ biggest test to date will come against the Houston Texans. Jake will have to do everything in his power to prevent All-Pro JJ Watt from wreaking havoc in Falcons backfield. Let’s not forget that Matthews has had a lingering back issue for most of the season. Hopefully he’s nimble enough to slow down Watt and company on Sunday.
