The Atlanta Hawks end their three-game losing streak by defeating the Dallas Mavericks, 112-97, thanks in large part to Jeff Teague‘s 32-point performance.

The Atlanta Hawks get their 28th win of the season by ending their three-game slide with a convincing 112-97 victory over the Dallas Mavericks Monday night at Philips Arena. Atlanta’s star performer was none other than starting point guard Jeff Teague, who led all scorers with 32 points.

Jeff Teague was sensational in Atlanta’s season sweep over Dallas. He scored his 32 points on 12-15 shooting, including 5-6 from three and 3-3 at the free throw line. Teague ended up with more points than minutes tonight, as he finished the game with 27 minutes and 48 seconds of playing time. He would finish with eight assists, five rebounds, and a steal in his all-around strong performance against the Mavericks.

Rarely do we see a player in head coach Mike Budenholzer’s offense total 30 or more points in a game, as the scoring for the Atlanta Hawks usually features five or more players with at least 10 points of offense. Joining Teague in double figures Monday night were Kyle Korver, Dennis Schroder, and Al Horford.

More from Atlanta Hawks

Korver, like Teague, was feeling it from distance against the Mavericks. He had 16 points on 5-8 shooting, including 4-7 from three-point land. Though he missed one of his three free throw attempts, Korver would lead all players in plus/minus with +22 in 27 minutes and 53 seconds of playing time. He would finish with three assists, two rebounds, and a block.

Schroder helped the Atlanta point guards total 50 points. Teague had his 32, Shelvin Mack had four, and Schroder finished with 14 points on 4-6 shooting and 5-7 at the charity stripe. He would have three assists, three rebounds, and a steal in 16 minutes and 2 seconds of playing time.

Horford had 10 points on 4-8 shooting, including 2-2 from three. His three-point shooting is starting to make have an even better offensive commodity for the Atlanta Hawks. He would gather four rebounds, dish out two dimes, and have one block as well.

Paul Millsap actually had more rebounds (12) than he had points (eight) on what was a very tough shooting night for him: 3-10 from the field, 0-3 from three, 2-4 at the free throw line. He would also have two assists in two blocks in a team-high 33 minutes and 42 seconds of playing time.

Overall, Atlanta did a fine job shooting the basketball from the field (52.5%) and from three (40.0%), but did leave some points at the line (73.7%). The Hawks did a fine job winning the rebounding battle over Dallas, even though backup center Tiago Splitter wasn’t available, beating the Mavericks on the glass, 56-51.

Momentum has not been on Atlanta’s side in the last week or so. The Atlanta Hawks had dropped their previous three games and five of their last six before the Mavericks came to town Monday night. Atlanta had surrendered its Southeast Division lead to their rival in the Miami Heat after an embarrassing lose to Miami Sunday night in South Beach, 105-87.

Atlanta will hope to carry its confidence gained from beating a pretty good Dallas at home Monday night when the Hawks travel to the City of Brotherly Love to take on the lowly Philadelphia 76ers Wednesday night at the Wells Fargo Center. Philadelphia is improving, but still is the worst team in the Eastern Conference. Tipoff in that Eastern Conference affair is at 7:00 PM ET and the game will air on Fox Sports Southeast. It’s great to snap the three-game losing streak and complete the season sweep of a certainly playoff bound team in the Dallas Mavericks. Let’s Go Hawks!
