Atlanta Falcons: Falcons Win Taking Control of Their Division
By Kit Anderson
The Atlanta Falcons came up with a huge win this week taking down division rivals the Carolina Panthers in high flying fashion.
The Atlanta Falcons answered a lot of questions in a 48-33 victory over the Carolina Panthers that was lopsided for much of the game. The Panthers struggled to score for most of the game, only finding an offensive spark after Cam Newton left the game in the 4th quarter.
Back-up quarterback Derek Anderson was forced into action and helped lead the Panthers to a comeback making it an eight point game before a Julio Jones’ touchdown put the game away for the good.
Julio Jones set a record this week in Atlanta piling up 300 receiving yards and made the Panthers corners look silly on more than one occasion. He made it look as if Ryan were simply making video game throws consistently ripping off huge gains and ripping through a talented Carolina Panthers defense.
Matt Ryan had a great day himself surpassing 500 yards passing and leading his team to a solid division lead. If there were any questions about whether this team is improved on last season this win should answer those questions. The Falcons offense looked the best it has all season against arguably the best team they have faced thus far.

On the flip side the Panther’s struggles have continued. The first drive set the tone of the game for the offense, with too many penalties that ended a drive that started with some promising looking plays.
For the Atlanta Falcons this is a statement win in a game that they were heavily picked against to win. Regardless of the Carolina’s struggles they are a great team with talent and depth the Falcons hadn’t face before this week.
Still Falcon’s fans have to be tempering their expectations of this team as they are headed to face the Denver Broncos and the Seattle Seahawks. The Falcon’s schedule isn’t getting any easier but if Julio Jones can continue to be the monster of a player he was today the Falcons are going to be able to stay in games regardless of their defense.

The Falcon’s defense despite allowing twenty-six points looked much better today getting to Cam Newton on several occasions and forcing some poor throws. They forced two turnovers to end the game as well one resulting in a pick six. The Falcons will head to Denver to take on the Broncos next week’s game kicks off at 4:05 on FOX.
