Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets Host Tulane Green Wave
The 15th ranked Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets host the Tulane Green Wave in a Week 2 matchup at Bobby Dodd Stadium on Saturday at 3:30 PM.
THE MATCHUP:
The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets will look to build off of their 69-6 rout of Alcorn State last Thursday. The Georgia Tech offense rushed for 476 yards in the game, while totaling over 500 yards of total offense. The defense looked good as well, only allowing an early 3rd quarter touchdown to the Braves.

The Tulane Green Wave are coming off a 37-7 defeat at the hands of the Duke Blue Devils last week. Quarterback Thomas Sirk passed for 289 and 2 touchdowns against Tulane for the Blue Devils, picking apart their defense. Alcorn State is an FCS opponent, so Tulane will be a step up in competition for the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets this week (relatively speaking).

KEY PLAYERS:
Tanner Lee, QB (Sophomore): Tulane is led by Sophomore quarterback Tanner Lee on offense. Lee has started all 11 of his collegiate games. In the Green Wave’s Week 1 contest against Duke, Lee passed for 248 yards and 1 touchdown, a 76 yard pass to WR Devon Breaux.
Nico Marley, LB (Junior): The Tulane lineback Nico Marley had a career high 15 tackles last week against Duke, good for fourth best in the country during Week 1. Though the Green Wave were not successful in stopping the Blue Devil offensive attack last week, Marley led their defense, with 13 of his 15 tackles being solo.
Marcus Allen, BB (Junior): Junior B-back Marcus Allen left the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets game against Alcorn State last week with an ankle injury and did not return. Head Coach Paul Johnson indicated this week during practice that Allen would be good to go for Saturday’s game. With Patrick Skov and Marcus Marshall playing well, it it’s not imperative for Marcus Allen to get on the field, but would instill more confidence in the running game by providing another option on the ground.

Justin Thomas, QB (Junior): The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets captain only played one quarter against Alcorn State last Thursday, after the Jackets led the Braves by a 34-0 score at the end of the first quarter. As the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets prepare for a crucial visit to South Bend, Indiana next week against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, perhaps Thomas remains in the game longer on Saturday — even if the score gets somewhat out of hand.
PREDICTION:
Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets – 41, Tulane Green Wave – 13
The Georgia Tech offense will have a field day at the expense of the Tulane defense, and will be too much for the Green Wave to handle. The defense will hold strong for the most part, but may gave up a touchdown or two later in the game as Paul Johnson may elect to sit his starters.
